Actor Liam Neeson: THERE ARE TOO MANY [BLEEPING] GUNS OUT THERE, ESPECIALLY IN AMERICA

Now it is becoming more difficult to speculate of a bigger anti-gun, liberal Hollywood hypocrite than Liam Neeson. The star of the Taken series, with Taken 3 just recently released in theaters, spoke in response to the Paris attacks that took the lives of 12 innocent people.

However they didn’t appear very classy.

There are too many [bleeping] guns out there, especially in America.

He went on to say the level of private gun ownership in America is “a [bleeping] disgrace.”

I am appalled by Neeson’s comments because they are both disgusting and ignorant. It is absurd to talk American gun ownership when the attack was in France, a country that has strict gun control. Automatic weapons are already banned for private citizens in France, but that didn’t stop the radical Islamic terrorists from using automatic weapons to complete their massacre.

If that isn’t absurd enough, he was standing in front of a poster of himself holding a handgun in his newest film, Taken 3, when he made the comments.

Coming from Gulfnews.com, Neeson also said the following.

I think the population is like, 320 million? There’s over 300 million guns, privately owned, in America. I think it’s a [bleeping] disgrace. Every week now we are picking up a newspaper and seeing, ‘Yet another few kids have been killed in schools.’

For those of you not aware of the Taken series, I’ve seen the first two and it is an action packed movie that involves Neeson’s character, Bryan Mills, who is a CIA officer, to save his family from various kidnappings. In the first movie, Mills’s daughter got his permission to go on a trip to Paris, France with a friend, but things got dangerous when they get kidnapped. Mills rushes to Paris, and shoots multiple people before finally saving his daughter and bringing her back.

Keep in mind this happens to be the same city where the Charlie Hebdo victims were gunned down, but that did not stop him from blaming guns for it. To attack gun ownership in America when it had nothing to do with the attack in France is disturbing.

It makes me think what his reaction would have been if these terrorists used knives instead of guns. Would he still be as outraged?

He was also asked about pushing his support of pushing gun control, while using guns in films. Neeson simply said “It’s fantasy. It’s in the movies, you know?” So I assume he doesn’t count this as hypocrisy since movies are exceptions, apparently.

I previously knew that he was a strong anti-gun Hollywood actor, but this is definitely a new and higher level of hypocrisy I haven’t heard of before. So much, in fact, I’m not sure if I want to spend my money towards a movie that stars such a big hypocrite on guns.

If he really wanted to focus on the issue, he would talk about the victims in France, not diverge to America and private gun ownership. But I’m sure he wanted to take his 5 minutes of fame and go on another gun control rant, probably predicting all the tabloids would pick up on it. Don’t get me wrong. I really like Liam Neeson as a person and is a very talented actor, but I just wish he didn’t have the view he has on guns and would wake up to the hypocrisy he is displaying.
