Ask this young man from the Eastern Shore of Maryland, here on the Atlantic Coast but Terry McAuliffe is running scared right now. Why would he dismiss a challenge to debate Ken Cuccinelli. Remember, Virginia is an important state for the upcoming elections in 2014 and 2016. McAuliffe thinks he can pull a Feinstein and duck the debates for a clear choice victory.
Cuccinelli has not only accepted the debate challenge, he’s been traveling the State of Virginia, explaining his position, meeting with the caring people of the state and spending quality time. McAuliffe, not so much. He leads as Barack Obama does, from the back of his office.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Springfield, Va. – Ken Cuccinelli late yesterday formally accepted a debate in Danville sponsored by the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership, the Danville Register and Bee, WSET, WVIR, and a coalition of civic groups in the Danville/Pittsylvania County region. Danville was one of the 15 cities Cuccinelli included in his challenge to Terry McAuliffe.
“The McAuliffe campaign might have dismissed the challenge, but it’s clear that community leaders and Virginians share our desire to hold real debates across the Commonwealth,” Ken Cuccinelli said. “I accepted the debate in Danville because voters there have unique concerns and challenges—just like voters from other parts of Virginia—and they deserve to have their own debate. Both Terry McAuliffe and I agree this election is critically important for Virginia’s economic future. Given what’s at stake, we should be providing voters more opportunities to examine the real differences between both candidates.”
The organizers offered dates in September and October to hold the debate. The Cuccinelli campaign looks forward to working with the McAuliffe campaign to find a mutually agreeable date.
Cuccinelli in his acceptance speech at the Republican State Convention challenged Terry McAuliffe to 15 debates in the following cities: Bristol, Danville, Fairfax, Fredericksburg, Harrisonburg, Leesburg, Lynchburg, Manassas, Martinsville, Newport News, Richmond, Roanoke, Virginia Beach, Winchester and Wytheville.[fbcomments]
