One week after it was revealed that Melissa Harris-Perry owes $70K in delinquent taxes, we discover that two more MSNBC personalities have been stiffing Uncle Sam. National Review’s Jillian Kay Melchior reported that Toure Neblett, co-host of “The Cycle” and Joy-Ann Reid, former anchor and regular contributor, owe thousands in back taxes. Their debt breaks down this way:
- Al Sharpton owes $3-4 Million
- Melissa Harris-Perry owes $70K
- Toure owes $59K
- Joy-Ann owes $5K
So why does it not surprise me that the people who are crying for higher taxes for the rich (and who are considered to be in the 1% themselves) can’t be bothered to pay their fair share? Well, because they’re part of the Do-As-As-I-Say-Not-As-I-Do party. They don’t want to live by the same rules that they so avidly support being imposed on the rest of us because they believe that they are special.
Of course, we have to remind ourselves that these are the same people who think the term “taxpayer” is offensive and exclusive of people who don’t pay taxes. Elizabeth Stoker Bruenig, author at New Republic, thinks that calling people “taxpayers” should be removed from our “political rhetoric and punditry” because it suggests that people who don’t pay taxes have less of a say in our democratic processes. No, you can’t make this kind of stuff up. Maybe these MSNBC stars were just taking her wording to heart. But don’t take it from me, let’s see what Toure had to say on Twitter:
We should be doing our taxes instead of watching the game? Huh?

Maybe he should have taken his own tweet seriously.
Ouch, that’s gotta hurt.
RT @ComedianTheDA: Apparently Romney will do or say anything to get elected EXCEPT release his taxes, reveal his policies or tell the truth.
— Touré (@Toure) October 3, 2012
Toure seems to have a talent for hypocrisy, as do the rest of the MSNBC hosts who can’t be bothered to pay their taxes.
Pro tip: Lean Forward doesn’t mean the same thing in prison.
