BEHNA: Check Out My Top 5 GOP Presidential Candidates For 2016

With a record breaking 17 GOP candidates running for president, I give a brief breakdown of my top 5 candidates that I prefer. With 15 months to go until the election, there are many possibilities that can occur, and only time will tell what happens.

1) Ted Cruz

The junior senator from Texas has always been my first choice. In fact I liked him ever since I heard of him being elected to the U.S. Senate back in 2012. I believe he is the most conservative candidate running, as his actions and voting record proves it. He is intelligent, has administrative experience as the former Solicitor General of Texas, and is the face of the Tea Party movement.

2) Carly Fiorina

Despite her criticism of Ted Cruz’s 21 hour filibuster on Obamacare in 2013, Fiorina is a great speaker and brings forth business experience, formerly working at Lucent and Hewlett-Packard. She has by far won the opening debate on August 6th, and absolutely destroyed Chris Matthews in an MSNBC interview a couple days later. Plus, she would make a great candidate against Hillary Clinton, if she wins the Democratic nomination.

3) Ben Carson

A retired neurosurgeon, Ben Carson is absolutely brilliant. After all, you have to be smart to hold such a title, and it gives him great experience dealing with healthcare issues. Although he may not be the loudest candidate, he is bold and not afraid to speak the truth, even blasting Obamacare right in front of Obama at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast. He is also very consistent in his words and actions, very rarely making any mistakes in his campaign as well.

4) Scott Walker

The Wisconsin governor turned a state that had a deficit into a surplus, a sign he has good business and administrative experience. Plus, he is the only candidate who can say he won 3 gubernatorial elections in a 4 year period, including a 2012 recall that tried to oust him out of office. He knows how to win, govern, and makes another great speaker.

5) Donald Trump

By far the most outspoken and still on top of the polls, Trump isn’t afraid to be politically incorrect, which I really like. Plus, he makes some great points on business, trade, and immigration, issues that are resonating with many Americans. A strength he and Ben Carson have are not being full-time politicians, because many voters are becoming more tired of the corruption and broken system we continue to see from both parties in Washington.
