BEHNA: NO, @TedCruz Did Not Flip Flop On Birthright Citizenship #CruzCrew

Birthright citizenship, the law which automatically makes children of illegal immigrants who are born here U.S. citizens, has been the big talk for the past few days.

In particular, Ted Cruz said on Wednesday he would “absolutely” support ending birthright citizenship. He said the following during an interview on Michael Medved’s radio show:

“We should end granting automatic birthright citizenship to the children of those who are here illegally. That has been my position from the very first day of my running for the Senate.”

However he is being criticized for supposedly flip flopping on the issue. Critics are referring to an emerging 2011 video during his U.S. Senate campaign.

Huffington Post claims he said it was a mistake to try to end birthright citizenship in the title of their article.

However, Brian Phillips, the “Rapid Response Director” for Ted Cruz, slammed the Huffington Post for what he said was taken out of context.

I think Phillips did a very good job of setting the record straight here. With a heated 2016 election, it is typical for liberal sources to take segments of conservative candidates out of context.
