A Belgian newspaper has come under fire for printing a satirical piece that included a mock-up ofPresident Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama as apes, and the paper ended up apologizing today for the “bad taste” of running the picture in the first place.
Hey I am just letting you know about it. Now seriously, what did you do when you saw the photo?
The joke there was supposed to be that Vladimir Putin sent in the pictures. Obviously, not enough people appreciated their satire, and De Morgen ended up apologizing, saying, “In this case, we plead guilty of bad taste. We continue to be on the side of those that are battling any form of racism.”
Chika Unigwe, an author living in Belgium, tweeted out a photo of the pictures printed by Belgian paperDe Morgen.
