Italian police have arrested 15 Muslim refugees for allegedly throwing 12 of their traveling companions overboard during the Mediterranean Sea crossing.
According to a report in the UK Daily Mail, a fight broke out among the refugees after some of them declared their Christian faith. The Muslim men began throwing the Christians overboard, and the other Christians were able to protect themselves by forming a human chain. The trip originated on the Libyan coast with 105 passengers, and was intercepted by the Italian Navy.
Police were informed of the murders when the refugees arrived at Palermo, Sicily. The accused attackers were arrested on suspicion of “multiple aggravated murders based on religious hate”.
Apparently the rubber dinghy carrying the refugees was not equipped with a COEXIST bumper sticker needed to ensure the safety of the passengers.
The bodies of the 12 victims from Nigeria and Ghana have not been recovered, but they are presumed dead. Their alleged assailants are Muslims from Senegal, the Ivory Coast, and Mali.
