Chick-Fil-A’s Head Spokesman And VP Of Public Relations Has Died Unexpectedly

A man who, for the past week has had the most difficult job in the country, passed away suddenly this morning. Don Perry, the Vice President of Public Relations for Chick-fil-A, has been the man spearheading the response to the PR nightmare caused when CEO Dan Cathy made homophobic comments in recent interviews. For instance, Perry was the one who sent out the official statement declaring that the chicken chain would, in the future, stay out of policy debate on the subject. Unfortunately, Perry died earlier today, reportedly from a heart attack.

The Los Angeles Times has the following statements from the company:

“’He was a well-respected and well-liked media executive in the Atlanta and University of Georgia communities, and we will all miss him,” the company said in a statement. ‘Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.’

‘Don was an incredible friend, a consummate PR professional, and was absolutely in love with Chick-fil-A,’ said Steve Robinson, executive vice president of marketing at Chick-fil-A, in a statement. ‘His passing leaves a great hole in my life as well as the lives of everyone who worked with him.’”

Perry had worked for Chick-fil-A for 29 years.
