After Donald Trump claimed he can’t release his tax returns due to an audit, the IRS on Friday came out and said this is not the case.
The agency said that “nothing prevents individuals from sharing their own tax information.”
The IRS stresses that audits of tax returns are based on the information contained on the taxpayer’s return and the underlying tax law — nothing else. Politics and religion do not factor into this. The audit process is handled by career, non-partisan civil servants, and we have processes in place to safeguard the exam process.
It sounds like Trump isn’t forbidden to release his taxes, but he just does not want to release them. With that said, Mitt Romney and others have every right to question his motives and if he is hiding anything.
If Trump claims everyone else is a liar, maybe he should come clean about his taxes for once. He also lies about his campaign being self-funded, lies about not supporting socialized healthcare, lies about being pro-life, and lies about being conservative. Now he lies about claiming to be forbidden to release his tax returns.
Now the question is what will Trump lie about next.
