Trump told Greta Van Susteren that he heard “pressure” was being put on Macy’s to drop his clothing line from their stores.
“I spoke to them about it and I don’t want them to have pressure,” Trump said. “I know them very well, we’ve had a good relationship … They do not handle pressure well.”
Trump asserted that Macy’s does not support his stance on immigration, so he decided to give them an out and end the business relationship.
“We have to stop it actually, the illegal immigrants that are pouring through our borders, I’m very very strong on border control and border security and they probably aren’t,” Trump told Van Susteren. ” …They were folding like a bunch of bandits.”
Van Susteren asked the presidential candidate if he still stands by his statement.
“I said, what I said was very simple … I’m talking about illegal immigrants that are pouring into our country and with that comes tremendous crime,” Trump replied. “Somebody has to say it. I know it’s not nice to say, I know it’s not politically correct.”
Trump added that somebody “is going to have to stick up for this country and say it.”
