Sunday morning, GOP presidential candidate and front-runner Donald Trump joined Jake Tapper on CNN’s “State of the Union,” and fired back after intense criticism over comments he made about Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly, saying he said “nothing wrong.”
Tapper started out the interview playing responses from a couple of the presidential candidates and one Jeb Bush weighed in during his appearance at RedState Gathering in Atlanta, GA, this weekend.
Bush passionately took the stage and attempted to appeal the audience in a “there’s no room for Donald Trump in this nomination process,” segment
“Come on, gimmie a break, I mean do we want to win? Do we want to insult 53 percent of all voters? What Donald Trump said is wrong, that is not how we win elections and worst yet that is not how you bring people together to solve problems,” Bush said while standing with RedState founder Erick Erickson.
Trump responded to Bush’s grandstanding reminding viewers and listeners about what happened a few days ago when Jeb Bush made a huge error when speaking about women’s health issues:
“Well I think it’s amazing because three days ago he was talking so negatively about women’s health issues and I thought it was disgraceful frankly and I think it will go down to haunt him and maybe be the same as Romney’s 47 percent which possibly cost him the election”
Trump pushed back over statements he made about Megyn Kelly during a CNN segment with Don Lemon during his interview with Tapper with these takeaways:
“I cherish women,” Trump told host Jake Tapper on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
“I said nothing wrong what whatsoever,” he said. “Do you think I would make a stupid statement like that? You almost have to be sick to put that together.”
“I am going to do things for women that no other candidate can do,” Trump added.
Critics have since pounced on Trump’s remarks as crude and demeaning toward Kelly as they interpreted his statements in a sexual sense, but could he have meant something else? Watch the interview:
