This morning, someone sent me a link to a graphic and a question – “Do you know if this is real?”
I get those questions a lot from everyday Americans trying to report on issues that mean so much to them and their audience. But this one, I had to check into because it was so damning, so hypocritical. During Thursday night’s GOP debate, the Fox News moderators went after GOP front-runner Donald Trump with a vicious line of questioning. I would probably compare the intensity of the Q&A to the Nuremberg trials, ok that might be over the top, but I was trying to catch your attention.
I felt the questions asked to Trump were more of a personal flavor and not what Americans wanted to hear. Americans wish to hear about fixing this country and how to restore the job market, fixing our public school system, strengthening our military and so on. The questions that were chosen to ask Trump could have asked during one-on-one interviews, but then again this was the national stage, the global stage to a degree, and they are the news (sarcasm.)
Moderator Brett Baier asked Trump his reasons for donating to Democratic candidates such as Hillary Clinton. Chris Wallace pressed the former reality television star on what kind of goodies he got from politicians he donated money to.
“What did you get from Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi?” Wallace asked.
“I’ll tell you what, with Hillary Clinton, I said, ‘Be at my wedding,’ and she came to my wedding,” Trump replied. “You know why? She had no choice, because I gave.”
Check out the exchange:
But here’s the problem with this line of questioning……..so did Fox News.
Fox News has given money to the Clintons over the past two decades, and that’s where the hypocrisy sits like a giant elephant in the room. This shocking information if you haven’t heard about it before, prepare yourselves.
Michael Lotfi of Truth in Media reported the following:
According to Federal Election Commission and Center for Responsive Politics data, 21st Century Fox News Corp. has donated more than $3 million to Clinton family accounts. Overall, this lands Fox as the Clinton family’s 9th largest donor over the course of the family’s political involvement.
Check out the money trail in the graphic also presented by Lofti:
The main dog chasers trying to tear after Trump won’t do the same thing to Fox News and their love affair with the Clintons. This is crazy don’t you think? Maybe that’s why the news organization describes themselves as Fair and Balanced, they give to both sides. So why should Trump be targeted or called out while Fox News gets a pass? Someone enlighten me.
There are many that will say well Fox News isn’t running for president, and I call that one lazy ass excuse to continue to pummel someone they don’t like. I’ve said this before, and I will say it again. I have no problem calling out both sides and neither should you. For change to happen you have to want it to happen.
Whether or not Fox News directly targeted Trump in the GOP debate remains to be seen but social media haters are people you can’t trust because they won’t call out the other side. Lofti said it best: Do we really want our media to be non-bias, or do we simply want it to follow our own bias?
