Feminism: Advocacy for Victimhood, Not Empowerment

When did the feminist movement become the poster child for powerless women?

In the 60’s the feminist rallying cry was ‘I am woman hear me roar,’ yet today the movement seems to do a little less roaring, and a lot more crying.
Crying Foul
Crying Victim
Crying Sexism
It’s a crying shame laced with a lot of hypocrisy.

Feminism is supposed to be about the advocacy of women’s rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men, leaving out the asterisk.

*Advocacy applies only for women who agree with our political agenda.

Advocacy does not apply to:

– The hysterical white suburban women standing in the way of Secretary of Education Arne Duncan’s precious common core
– Juanita Broderick or Kathleen Willey who were subjected to Bill Clinton’s unwanted sexual advances
– Sarah Palin when attacked by Martin Bashir who said someone should defecate and urinate in Mrs. Palin’s mouth
– The women subjected to sexual harassment by Democrat Mayor Bob Filner
– The underaged girl at the center of an indictment against Joe Morrissey, a VA Democrat accused of taking indecent liberties with said minor
– Nor the Christian woman imprisoned in the Sudan for being a Christian

I could go on, but I have more faith in our readers than does the feminist movement.

Tonight on Hannity, former NOW President, Patricia Ireland reacted to the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby decision.

Clearly Ms. Ireland received the liberal talking points. She traded in her roar for the battle cry of victimhood, echoing the sentiment expressed by White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest on Monday when he said the Hobby Lobby decision,

jeopardizes the health of women who are employed by these companies

Ms. Ireland upped the rhetoric a smidgen by adding the “slippery slope” argument which is long on fear, and short on fact.

Fact: The Supreme Court’s decision affects four out of twenty contraception drugs Hobby Lobby currently provides its employees under its health care plan.

Fact: The four drugs are a class of contraceptives called abortifacients that destroy embryos after fertilization.

Fact: Hobby Lobby is solely owned and operated by David and Barbara Green and their adult children. The company is nationwide, but it is essentially a family owned business where the religious beliefs are expressed in corporate documents and practices.

Fact: Hobby Lobby will continue to provide sixteen contraception drugs to its employees, pay its employees $14 per hour (a self-imposed minimum wage) and remain closed on Sundays.

Fact: The decision in no way jeopardizes the health of women working for Hobby Lobby as the Obama administration and feminists would have you believe.

Fact: If the left is so interested in the “slippery slope” argument, can we apply the same logic to gay marriage? No, I didn’t think so.

Fact: Feminists have traded representation of the empowered for the powerless woman, victims of a  faux war who cannot pay for a $3 box of condoms because they are incapable of earning equal pay, yet masterfully adept at knowing their place, and dutifully standing by their sexist, adulterous, womanizing men.
