Former Lesbian Christian Rapper says Gays Can Change Like She Did

Christian rapper Jackie Hill-Perry claims that she is a former lesbian and that gay people can change as she did.

“The Word of God itself, apart from Jackie Hill, testifies that people can change,” Hill-Perry told Wade-O Radio, a Christian radio show, in 2013.

“I think we’ve made God very little if we believe that He cannot change people,” added Hill-Perry. “If He can make a moon, stars and a galaxy that we have yet to fully comprehend, how can He not simply change my desires?”

Hill-Perry claims that about 40 percent of the messages on social media have bashed her.

“On Twitter, this girl wrote me like 15 different tweets, pretty much saying that I was delusional, in denial and brainwashed,” Hill-Perry recently told The Washington Times.

Hill-Perry claims that she was sexually abused at the age of 5 and experienced gender confusion when she began dating girls at age 17. However, the rapper says she renounced being a lesbian in 2008 and married Preston Perry in March. They now perform together (video below).

“What I had been taught in church until the age of 10 coincided with the truth in my conscious that a holy God and just God would be justified in sending me, an unrepentant sinner to hell,” said Hill-Perry. “But also that this same God sent His son to die on my behalf and forgive me if only I believe.”

However, Southern Baptist leader Russell Moore recently called ex-gay reparative therapy “severely counterproductive” during a conference of the Southern Baptists’ Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, reports ReligionNews.com.

“The utopian idea if you come to Christ and if you go through our program, you’re going to be immediately set free from attraction or anything you’re struggling with, I don’t think that’s a Christian idea,” stated Moore. “Faithfulness to Christ means obedience to Christ. It does not necessarily mean that someone’s attractions are going to change.

“The Bible doesn’t promise us freedom from temptation,” added Moore. “The Bible promises us the power of the spirit to walk through temptation.”

In 2009, the American Psychological Association condemned reparative therapy, and this year the American Association of Christian Counselors dismissed reparative therapy in favor of celibacy.
“The idea that one is simply the sum of one’s sexual identity is something that is psychologically harmful ultimately,” stated Moore. “And I think also we have a situation where gay and lesbian people have been treated really, really badly. The response is not shunning, putting them out on the street. The answer is loving your child.”
