Mayor de Blasio to NYPD: Don’t Wait on That Apology!

Despite requests from police unions, in a press conference held Wednesday, Mayor Bill de Blasio stands firm that he will not apologize for his incendiary remarks that stirred strong reactions from the NYPD.

Citing his “fundamental beliefs” behind his highly charged remarks made in a press conference shortly after the death of Eric Gardner in New York, de Blasio held firm his position and added that he is willing to meet and address the issues of any officer.

“There’s going to be emotion, there’s going to be rhetoric, there’s going to be said things that shouldn’t be said; but I think that underneath that there are some real issues that need to be addressed,” said de Blasio.

A New York Daily News article covered by Bizpac Review on Wednesday reported that in a separate meeting held by the Police Benevolent Association, tempers flared with officers divided on whether they wanted the focus to remain on hearing an apology from the Mayor or whether the issues of providing them with proper equipment and protection to do their jobs be the key focus that needs address.

It is uncertain how the police unions will respond to this latest press conference by de Blasio. Suffice to say the matter remains unresolved and certain to anger some members of the unions.
