Mayor Fredo’s Misconception of Respect

It ain’t the way I wanted it! I can handle things! I’m smart! Not like everybody says… like dumb… I’m smart and I want respect!

Whenever I write about the Mayor of the City of New York, I always write his former given name and strike it through to show the duplicitous nature of NYC Mayor Warren Wilhelm Bill de Blasio.  Even his name is a show.  By the end of this post, I’ll have a new name for him.

Fredo.

Monday, NYC Mayor Warren Wilhelm Bill de Blasio, broke his silence about the very public protests by New York City Police Officers responding to the Mayor’s divisive rhetoric.  IN full “Fredo” mode,  Wilhelm de Blasio thundered like someone who thinks he has the moral high ground.

“I can’t understand why anyone would do such a thing in the context like that,” said Wilhelm de Blasio “And I think it defies a lot of what we all feel is the right and decent thing to do.”

The record, however, shows that the ground under  Wilhelm de Blasio is not high at all.  And it’s shaky at best.  In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past 90 days, let’s recap the “leadership” of Mayor  Wilhelm de Blasio, shall we?

  • Wilhelm de Blasio openly hired progressive buddies like Kicy Motley, who made detestable anti-police statements unabashedly and without reprisal or accountability;
  • Wilhelm de Blasio equated NYPD Police Commissioner William Bratton’s position to the vile and divisive Rev. Al Sharpton when he placed them at opposite ends of the same table at a July press conference.  Sharpton, of course, was able to tell Wilhelm de Blasio to “perp-walk” one of the police and publicly embarrass city government;
  • Then came, Rachel Noerdlinger, a Wilhelm de Blasio adviser whose live-in boyfriend, Hassaun McFarlan, (who incidentially has a long rap sheet that includes homicide, drug selling and – shock of all shocks – nearly running a police officer off the road in his car) Noerdlinger resigned, but don’t worry, shelanded a cushy position with a progressive public relations firm.  Again, shock of all shocks.
  • Then came Wilhelm de Blasio’s bungling of the Garner situation.  Wilhelm de Blasio openly called for police reform – and for his bi-racial son Dante to fear the very police that are paid to protect him everyday – while calling assaults on NYPD officers “alleged” even though those attacks were also caught on tape.
  • Oh, and just recently,  Wilhelm de Blasio re-appointed a Brooklyn judge who freed  a Brooklyn gang-banger who’d posted threats against the NYPD without bail.  Yep, you read that right.

But in Wilhelm de Blasio’s world, it is the NYPD who are disrespectful for turning their backs when he imposed politics into the funerals of slain Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu, who were killed in part because of growing anti-police rift created in part by Wilhelm de Blasio, by speaking at both memorials.

Because Wilhelm de Blasio is the judge of what is good and decent behavior of people, let alone the NYPD.  He and his people are beyond reproach, right?

This is the same person who derided the robotic, uncaring, unfeeling nature of the NYPD on the campaign trail.  Now that some officers show their emotion and express themselves the best way they know how, Wilhelm de Blasio tries to get them coming and going.

Who’s playing politics, again?

Ask any officer – or any New Yorker – and you’ll get similar answers:  Respect is not demanded, it is earned by words matching deeds.  What has Wilhelm de Blasio done to earn back the respect of the NYPD?  The same NYPD who are operating without a contract?  Right, when progressive Wilhelm de Blasio was securing new contracts with much of the city’s workforce, police unions were left out in the cold.

Who deserves respect, again?

Maybe Mayor Wilhelm de Blasio Fredo should show some respect in order to get some respect.
