Madison Rising Interview

Meet Madison Rising – Conservative Rockers Who Actually Rock

I LOVE music and grew up with parents who did, as well. I remember listening for hours to eight tracks of some of their favorites – Neil Diamond, Elvis, Fleetwood Mac, and Barbara Streisand.

When I turned sixteen, I landed a job at Turtle’s Records and Tapes where my love for music, in particular, rock music continued to grow. I have seen every band you can imagine from David Bowie to Pink Floyd, from Ratt to Poison, to my all time favorites Guns and Roses and The Cult.

So it is not every day I can say my mom introduces me to a rock band, let alone a rock band who, well, rocks, but mom is who first introduced me to the band Madison Rising, and the rendition of the National Anthem

In February, Madison Rising performed their rendition of the National Anthem at Daytona 500 and received mixed reviews.  Some felt the National Anthem should never be played in any other form than originally written, and the others are likely liberals concerned the Conservative movement has a talented group of patriotic young men who may have the ability to reach an audience that once seemed unreachable.

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to attend The Patriot Party sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and spent the day with Madison Rising band members, Dave Bray, Sam Fishman, AJ Larsen and Tom DiPietro and to say I was impressed by these young men would be an understatement.

Dave Bray is a veteran of the U.S, Navy who hails from a military rich family and fronts the band with an amazingly gifted voice filled with controlled passion. Sam Fishman, clearly the most serious and sweet of the group, is Madison Rising’s drummer who although soft spoken, plays the drums like a maniac.  AJ Larsen the guitarist often provides comic relief, but there is nothing funny about his guitar playing skills. He is in a word, incredible. The band’s bassist, Tom DiPietro, is the newest member of Madison Rising and plays the intro to the Star Spangled banner that leaves me with goose bumps every time.

The four men rock, and bring an element of cool to Conservatism that has been absent for a generation. Speaking with the band members, it becomes apparent they are genuinely called to do this, seeing their purpose as bigger than self, an opportunity to spread the message of patriotism, liberty and freedom not only to the Conservative faithful, but also by reaching a new generation of people who may not have otherwise received it.

It’s not often my mom introduces me to a rock band that rocks, nor is it often a band has the ability to reach three generations of a family, but Madison Rising is no ordinary band.
Madison Rising answers questions from their fans below and you can ask lead singer, Dave Bray more when he joins The Wayne Dupree Show on April 16th.
