The self-proclaimed, “most transparent administration,” as predicted, has been the exact opposite. According to the AP, the Obama administration has set a new record for censoring government files, or simply denying access to them.
The AP did an independent analysis of federal data relating to the U.S. Freedom of Information Act and found staggering information.
The government took longer to turn over files when it provided any, said more regularly that it couldn’t find documents and refused a record number of times to turn over files quickly that might be especially newsworthy.
It also acknowledged in nearly 1 in 3 cases that its initial decisions to withhold or censor records were improper under the law — but only when it was challenged.
A slow clap is in order for the AP. Congratulations! You just might be at the beginning of understanding why all the hopey and changey talk had conservatives weary of an Obama presidency in 2008. Welcome to reality.
