Nancy Pelosi: It’s ‘a shame’ that Hamas ‘uses children as shields’

Secretary of State John Kerry and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and their allies need to stop pushing for a ceasefire in regard to the Gaza / Israeli conflict, as they are taking advice from countries that support Hamas.

Is it any wonder that negotiations are tense?

On Sunday, Nancy Pelosi again pushed for the “two state solution,” and while she praised Israel’s “iron dome” for protecting Israel from Hamas missiles, she also said that “we have to confer with the Qataris, who have told me over and over again that Hamas is a humanitarian organization…”

Pelosi also referenced a “ceasefire,” echoing John Kerry, whose proposal for a ceasefire was turned down by Israel because of what they perceive as the “outsize influence” of Qatar and Turkey “on his diplomatic efforts…”

The leaked agreement “basically accepts all of Hamas’s demands but addresses Israeli worries only tangentially,” wrote Raphael Ahren, diplomatic correspondent at The Times of Israel.

It’s as if he isn’t the foreign minister of the world’s most powerful nation,” wrote diplomatic correspondent Barak Ravid in Haaretz after his ceasefire document was leaked, “but an alien, who just disembarked his spaceship in the Mideast.

One of the most egregious statements Pelosi made was surrounding Hamas’ use of innocent civilians as human shields. While Pelosi referred to it as a “rumor,” she said it was “a shame” that “Palestinians” are “using children and families as shields for their missiles.” It is not a “rumor” if Hamas admits using civilians as human shields, right? As an aside, where is the justice for the children who have died building tunnels for Hamas? According to Palestine-Studies.org, “At least 160 children have been killed in the tunnels, according to Hamas officials.”

Qatar and Turkey are both Hamas supporters. Israel rightly knows that peace is not the goal for those who support Hamas. While the U.S. government seems to go out of it’s way to prop up those who seek to destroy Israel, is it any wonder that the trust level is not so high?

For example, Iran’s “Supreme Leader,” Sayyid Ali Khamenei recently tweeted (complete with a meme) that “those who love Palestine” to arm ppl in West Bank.” He also called for the destruction of Israel.

Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan recently said,

(Israelis) have no conscience, no honor, no pride. Those who condemn Hitler day and night have surpassed Hitler in barbarism.

Pelosi’s reference to Qatar is troubling, as the Jewish Telegraph Agency reported that an Israeli official said,

Qatar, financially and politically, diplomatically and through Al Jazeera, is supporting a terrorist group…Instead of contributing to the development of the area, they are contributing to terror in the region.

While Qatar has been in the news recently for acting as a babysitter for five terrorists released supposedly in exchange for likely deserter Bowe Bergdahl, they have been working with Americans well before the exchange.

In 2012, the New York Times reported,

The Obama administration secretly gave its blessing to arms shipments to Libyan rebels from Qatar last year, but American officials later grew alarmed as evidence grew that Qatar was turning some of the weapons over to Islamic militants, according to United States officials and foreign diplomats.

Yet despite Qatar’s support of Islamic militants, Business Insider reported last week that “Qatar closed the largest sale of American weaponry so far this year, purchasing $11 billion worth of Patriot missile batteries and Apache attack helicopters.” The article also referred to the Qataris as “one of Hamas’s most reliable international partners.”

Attempting damage control after Pelosi’s comments, her spokesman Drew Hammill offered a “clarification” of her statements, reaffirming Hamas as a “terrorist organization,” as reported at the Washington Examiner.

Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu noted on CNN that “Israel has accepted five ceasefires since this conflict began, five.” He continued to say that while Israel “accepted them and…implemented them, including two humanitarian ceasefires in the last 24 hours which Hamas rejected, as they rejected all the other ceasefires.”

An enduring ceasefire would be wonderful, if Hamas did not continually violate them. Netanyahu continued,

So, you say Israel resumed its offensive. No, we didn’t resume our offensive. We had a ceasefire. They violated it. And now they are violating their own ceasefire. And, obviously, we will take whatever action is necessary to protect our people, including against the terror tunnels that they are trying to dig against us.
