NJ Gov Chris Christie makes pro-life case for helping non-violent drug offenders

Many of the speakers at this years Road to Majority conference spoke about the issue of life and what it means to be pro-life. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie told the crowd that in his state, despite four decades of fighting the “war on drugs, ” it has ultimately failed.

What works is giving those people — non-violent drug offenders, addicts — the ability to get the tools that they need to be able to deal with their issues,

Christie referenced the New Jersey drug court program which he expanded statewide back in 2012. The measure requires that low-level drug offenders be given treatment versus time behind bars. He made clear that the program was not a means to deal with violent sociopath drug dealers; but that his program was for people who are users that need help.
