LAFAGE: RIP Bernie’s Credibility

Love him or hate him, one of the things most people could agree on about Bernie Sanders is that he was perceived as honest and sincere in his convictions. That being said, most adults with an IQ of 40 understood that things like “free” college are fairytale socialist pipedreams that have no basis in reality but we respected Bernie for being honest about his utopian delusions. Alas, this is politics and Bernie is not the revolutionary Saint that many of his followers believed him to be. When push came to shove, Bernie didn’t didn’t stand firm against corruption, big money and bad government. No. He did what any good leftist in his position would do. He swallowed his pride, fell in line and endorsed Hillary Rotten Clinton for President.

It was an all too predictable story. The man was an obscure fixture in the Senate for years. He accomplished much of nothing while he was there. He managed to gain popularity peddling lies to the youth, only to stab them in the back by endorsing the very woman who completely embodies everything he claimed to oppose and who is the perfect example of what he promised his supporters he would fight to eradicate in Washington D.C. Any creditability Bernie had is now gone. He is officially a sellout and no better than the elites and insiders he railed against on the campaign trail.

During his lengthy, sometimes awkward endorsement speech, Bernie attempted to appeal to the 13 million voters he was stabbing in the back to choose Hillary over the presumptive Republican nominee. He outlined several examples where Donald Trump has “a very different view” including income inequality, the minimum wage, healthcare and Supreme Court nominations.

“Hillary Clinton understands that we must fix an economy in America that is rigged and that sends almost all new wealth and income to the top one percent. Hillary Clinton understands that if someone in America works 40 hours a week, that person should not be living in poverty.

She believes that we should raise the minimum wage to a living wage. And she wants to create millions of new jobs by rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure. – our roads, bridges, water systems and wastewater plants.”

Bernie conceded that he and Hillary have differences but attempted to minimize them,

“It is no secret that Hillary Clinton and I disagree on a number of issues. That’s what this campaign has been about. That’s what democracy is about. But I am happy to tell you that at the Democratic Platform Committee which ended Sunday night in Orlando, there was a significant coming together between the two campaigns and we produced, by far, the most progressive platform in the history of the Democratic Party.

Our job now is to see that platform implemented by a Democratic Senate, a Democratic House and a Hillary Clinton president – and I am going to be in every corner of this country to make sure that happens.”

Also predictable was Donald Trump offering up his opinion on the endorsement and encouraging Bernie supporters to join his campaign. He took to Twitter:

I genuinely feel for the Bernie supporters. They were the original #NeverHillary people. Looks like the Bernouts now know what it truly means to ‪#‎FeelTheBern
