Scott Walker joins presidential race

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has announced on social media that he’s running for president, tweeting “I’m in.”

Walker, a Republican who built a national profile largely due to his clashes with labor unions, also released a campaign video at the same time Monday declaring his entry in the race. Conservatives like Walker because of his repeated battles with labor unions in Wisconsin. And it should not be forgotten that his state shares a border — and television markets — with the leadoff caucus state of Iowa. Some thought this announcement was a few weeks late but better now than no announcement at all.

“He has one foot in the evangelical camp, one foot in a tea party camp, and he has shown that he can win election after election after election,” according to CNN’s Jeff Zeleny.

Some of Walkers supporters were surprised it took this long to jump into the race but they are giving the thumbs up that he’s in.
