Second Dallas Health Care Worker Tests Positive For Ebola

A second health care worker at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, Amber Vinson, has tested positive for Ebola.

26-year-old Amber Vinson, who lives alone in her Dallas apartment, was among those health care workers who were attending to Thomas Duncan.

Frontier Airlines is reporting that Vinson flew into Cleveland on Oct. 10 via flight #1142, the same day that Nina Pham reported to the hospital with a fever.

Vinson later flew back to Dallas from Cleveland on Frontier Airlines flight #1143 on Oct. 13. Frontier Airlines said in a statement that the passenger “exhibited no symptoms or sign of illness while on flight 1143, according to the crew.”

On the morning of Oct. 14, Amber Vinson reported to the hospital with a low-grade fever, and was immediately placed into isolation within 90 minutes of the initial recording of the fever.

While Dallas officials and hospital staff work to contain the further spread of Ebola cases, blaring oversights on the lack of protocol on behalf of the CDC are visible.

When Nina Pham, the first of the health care workers to contract Ebola from Duncan, showed signs it was head of the CDC Tom Frieden, who said there was a breach in protocol, and that they had no idea how Pham contacted it.

Why was anyone who had contact with Thomas Duncan allowed to leave a quarantined area within a certain window of observation?

Was Amber Vinson part of the same breach that infected Nina Pham?

What is the CDC’s protocol if any?

What steps are being taken right now to ensure the public that Ebola is under control in America?

If you were on Frontier Airlines flight 1142 or 1143, you should contact the CDC at 1-800-232-4636.
