Late Sunday night, a Kentucky state trooper was shot during a routine traffic stop. He died early this morning.
Trooper Joseph Cameron Ponder, 31, was reportedly shot by Joseph Thomas Johnson-Shanks, 25 after he pulled the young man over on Interstate 24 Sunday night. A woman and two children, ages 2 and 5, were also in the suspect’s car at the time.
After talking to Ponder, Johnson-Shanks sped away in an attempt to flee the scene, and a chase ensued. According to KFVS 12, Ponder eventually crashed into the rear of Johnson-Shanks vehicle, at which point the thug leaned out the side window and shot the cop multiple times.
Johnson-Shanks then fled the scene on foot, leaving the woman and children behind. Police eventually caught him in a wooded area, and when he refused to lower his weapon, he was shot multiple times.
Johnson-Shanks was pronounced dead at 8:23 this morning.
Ponder was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, who recently graduated from the KSP Training Academy. He started working for the Kentucky State Police in January.
“He was very proud to be a Kentucky State Police trooper,” KSP Trooper Jay Thomas said. “He was new and he was eager. He absolutely loved his job.”
Obama will probably send 40 agents there, and his department of “just us” will release a report saying this police department had a history of racism and the use of excessive force so this innocent Black feared for his life and it was self-defense.
Please pray for Officer Ponder and his family. SHARE if you think Obama should make a statement honoring the police officers who have been slain this year. The president has their blood on his hands!
