Everyone needs to wake up! In case you forgot, didn’t know, or was caught up with the media focusing on Cuba and North Korea for the past few days, our civil liberties of the right to bear arms is being attacked once again. On Christmas Eve (That’s right, Christmas Eve), the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty will ‘enter into force.’ This is NOT the Christmas present any of us want. In fact, I’d rather get a lump of coal and no presents over this draconian gun control plan.
As of this article being written, there are 130 countries that have signed the treaty, with 60 ratifying it. Exactly one year after this Christmas Eve is supposedly the ‘deadline for initial report on national implementation.’
The United Nations Office For Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) says they promote the following on their page:
-Nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation
-Strengthening of the disarmament regimes in respect to other weapons of mass destruction, and chemical and biological weapons
-Disarmament efforts in the area of conventional weapons, especially landmines and small arms, which are the weapons of choice in contemporary conflicts
All 3 points caught my attention, but especially the last point. First of all, what is meant by ‘contemporary conflicts?’ Considering it is the radical U.N., I wouldn’t be surprised if they consider hunting, target practice, or even self-defense as a ‘contemporary conflict.’
Despite the Senate narrowly turning down the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) last year, 53 – 46, the absurd fact here is that it was a close call, in which 46 Senators (44 Democrats, 2 Independents) voted in support of stripping away our 2nd Amendment rights.
Also despite the Senate rejecting this anti-gun vote, John Kerry, on behalf of the Obama administration, continued ahead and signed the ATT last year. In response, the NRA made the following remarks:
The Obama administration is once again demonstrating its contempt for our fundamental, individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms. This treaty threatens individual firearm ownership with an invasive registration scheme. The NRA will continue working with the United States Senate to oppose ratification of the ATT.
These are blatant attacks on the constitutional rights and liberties of every law-abiding American. The NRA will continue to fight this assault on our fundamental freedom.
Thank you, NRA! Thank you for being one of the biggest voices to stand up for our wonderful 2nd Amendment.
What Obama, the U.N., and gun control advocates are pursuing here is absolutely scary and disturbing. This needs to be a reminder to all of us that not only was the 2nd Amendment established by our founding fathers, but it needs to be protected and fought for by us yesterday, today, and for the days to come. There will always be those in every generation who hate America, liberty, and the great freedoms we have. Because of this, we cannot afford to be apathetic and must continue fighting the good fight to protect America, the Constitution, and our civil liberties. If the U.N. has nothing positive to give to America, perhaps in 2016, if we win back the White House, the next president should consider giving nothing back to the U.N., and opt out of this liberal, international organization for good.
