British actor Alan Rickman has died, his agent confirmed to NBC News. He was 69.
Rickman — a veteran of both screen and stage — was known for his roles in “Die Hard,” “Love Actually” and the “Harry Potter” films.
He got his start in theater, earning a Tony nomination for 1988’s “Les Liaisons Dangereuses.
Rickman was one of the U.K.’s most acclaimed actors, having starred in Die Hard, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, theHarry Potter film series, and many many more. In a report from The Guardian, his family confirmed today that Rickman has passed away from a battle with cancer.
