The Treacherous Years Of Obama’s Presidency

The 2014 mid-term election was historic for Republicans and for Americans on the whole. This election reflected not only a rejection, but an outright repudiation of the Barack Obama administration. Republicans were able to regain control of the Senate by running on a ballot that flat out opposed Obama’s agenda.

Yet, while this was truly a historic step for our country, the time to celebrate is short lived as America prepares to enter the treacherous years of Obama’s presidency.

The true nature of the president will finally be revealed as he prepares to launch his retaliation against Americans by defying our constitution in vowing to move forward with executive amnesty.

On Wednesday, during Obama’s defiant news conference, the president mocked congress by proclaiming that “executive orders will be replaced and supplanted by a bill from congress”. “You send me a bill that I can sign and those executive actions go away”, Obama said. He then threatened “what I’m not gonna do is just wait”.

He acknowledged that the Republican party won Tuesday’s elections, but framed the results as a mandate for Republicans to work with him, instead of the other way around.

What Obama displayed during his news conference was a detachment from the reality in which he himself has created. He polarized his supporters, demonized our constitution and laws, blamed the Republicans and threatened the country while further isolating himself from the nation he just threatened.

“Barack Obama has been disowned by Democrats and made to feel irrelevant in this election, President Obama’s enormous and unjustified ego is deeply wounded. He is frustrated and feels caged, cornered”, writes Charles Hurt of The Washington Times. “This is when people like him are most dangerous”, notes Hurt.

The danger comes from Obama’s willful blindness to the millions of Americans who voted against his plan to grant executive amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants.

Even loyal Obama supporters such as Chris Matthews are expressing dismay over how unattached the president has become.“There’s something in this guy that just plays to his constituency, and acts like there’s no other world out there,” the MSNBC host lamented.

His largest constituency, the Hispanic lobby, is all that matters moving forward with Obama. They have leaned on him to ignore Congress and act unilaterally with complete disregard to the constitution and the American people themselves.

Ron Fournier of National Journal precisely makes this point in stating “Obama Isn’t listening to voters he claims to hear”. Moreover, “Under fire from Hispanics who twice helped to elect him, Obama promised to reform the system by executive action over the summer. He held up, pressured by Democratic candidates running in red states, and is now in a box of his own building”.

The box that he built leaves the President with two options, “He can either break his promise to Hispanics, or throw a polarizing bomb into an already dysfunctional political system”, concludes Fournier. Obama will do the latter.

When the President said, “My policies are on the ballot“, he was talking about things already done, like Obamacare, but also things to come.

And whatever we think he might do in the future, writes Mark Krikorian of National Review, “he’s made only one concrete policy promise in that regard — unilateral lawless amnesty for millions of illegal aliens by the end of the year”.

Obama’s granting of executive amnesty will be the final power grab of his presidency as the Supreme Court has recognized that ‘over no conceivable subject is the power of Congress more complete’ than its power over immigration.

While I remain optimistic over the fate of this country in the hands of a Republican Congress, I remain a skeptic for what I witnessed during Obama’s 2014 State of the Union Address. It was something that should never be forgotten by the American people.

When President Obama pledged to circumvent Congress, he received rapturous applause and a standing ovation from the very body that he was proposing to make practically irrelevant.
