We live in a very complex world with a lot of complex problems. We are currently dealing the destabilization of the world’s economy, Russia’s subtle attempts at “expansion”, our surveillance policies further solidifying our place as the “black sheep” of the world, the racial tensions throughout America, the threats from North Korea, and now the terrorist actions in France. I believe it is time for a change.
I challenge everyone to go through their Facebook feed and start reading comments from complete strangers. Look at the posts on current events, and even the happiest posts find people who come to inject their hatred into the comment section. Why do we do this? I have been guilty of this in the past, I have been so excited for confrontation that I began to seek it, but I was wrong in doing that. I recall having the phrase “united we stand, divided we fall” explained to me in elementary school by a great teacher, but at the time I didn’t understand just how significant that phrase was. It is thought to have originated in the 6th century BC from a slave in ancient Greece, but has been used many times since the founding of America to inspire unity within our great country.
