The people of Virginia voted for this man, so I guess you get what you deserve just like the rest of the states that continue to vote just the same. No surprise here. This is what Democrats do and probably has a lot to do with the anger and frustration towards Republicans that are incapable of playing in the dirt as their opponents do. If not stopped, tyranny wins out over democracy.
The shame this brings to the Democratic Party is only eclipsed by the depravity and corruption of their Presidential nominee.
It will be interesting to see how McAuliffe reanimates thousands of deceased democrat voters in Virginia too. I’m confident he won’t let them be disenfranchised and marginalized simply because they are no longer living.
Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s administration said the governor had restored voting rights to about 41,000 felons who had been disenfranchised by a state Supreme Court ruling in a bitter battle between state Democrats and Republicans over felon voting rights.
But that’s far shy of what the Democratic governor had promised, reflecting intense Republican resistance in a crucial swing state where felons’ votes could decide the outcome of the U.S. presidential election.
At the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia on July 25, McAuliffe pledged to quickly restore voting rights to 206,000 felons.
“In two weeks, all 206,000 will have their rights back, folks!” the governor said, drawing a standing ovation from convention delegates.
The felons had had their voting rights restored by an executive order by McAuliffe in April, only to lose them again when the Virginia Supreme Court struck down the governor’s order in July. The GOP plaintiffs – two lawmakers and four other citizens – claimed McAuliffe’s order exceeded his state constitutional authority, and that argument ultimately prevailed in the court’s 4-3 conservative majority ruling.
But while the court struck down the blanket restoration of felon voting rights, it enabled McAuliffe to review individual cases and issue restoration orders to those who have completed sentences and parole or probation.
McAuliffe epitomizes progressives. If you don’t like the law, ignore it. The word “progressive” is derived from “progress.” What are progressives progressing to Totalitarianism? He thinks he’s already there.
McAuliffe is an old Clinton hand, so what should we expect right? The whole Clinton camp assumes they are above the law, and their coterie are all felons, so what are you going to do? It amazes me that the American people keep putting these tyrants back in the office and thus ensuring their demise, bound in the chains of slavery.
Virginians have to take their Governor to court to stop his abuses of power. Who is paying the legal fees incurred? ALL Virginians should insist that the costs of these ridiculous court actions should be borne by the Governor, personally.
The progressives have never been held accountable for their lawlessness or their failures of policy. Will November be any different or will the thousands of govt employees in Northern Virginia control the commonwealth.
Virginians should be outraged. And they should remember this in November.
