On the U.S. Military…
BY Joe Hakos: Back in June of 2013 I wrote the following…
Part of Obama’s plan to implement sequestration was to nominate and have confirmed Chuck Hagel as Secretary of Defense. Now Mr. Hagel is perfectly suited to cutting the DoD and is now in the position to oversee the type of reduction in the Nation’s military not seen since the period after the First World War.
Well behold I have become death…or something to that effect. SecDef Hagel has ordered personnel cuts and they will be eerily reminiscent to the second term of the Clinton Administration and the “Force Shaping” that took place throughout the DoD.
Now the Air Force Personnel Center released a statement that cuts to airman with less than 18 years and more than 20 years will have their records reviewed for negative force issues and either asked or made to leave the Air Force.
On Friday, the Air Force Personnel Center released details about a quality force review board to be held in May that will consider separating airmen who have “specific negative reporting identifiers, re-enlistment eligibility codes, assignment availability codes or grade status reasons,” according to a personnel center release.
These cuts will be conducted by a “quality review board” that will convene in May 2014. The personnel who have 20 or more years of service and found to have negative reporting identifiers, will have to apply for retirement after the “quality board” reports it’s findings and must be separated from active service by 1 October 2014. The airman with less than 18 years of service found to have negative force management issues will have to leave active duty service by 29 September 2014.
But SecDef Hagel and his “bean-counting” minions are not heartless evil bastards. No on the contrary they care enough that if…
“Some Airmen — those with 15 to 18 years of service as of July 31, 2014 — may be eligible for the Temporary Early Retirement Authority Program, so they may want to consider applying for TERA in lieu of meeting the board,” said Lt. Col. Rick Garcia
Lt Col Garcia is AFPC retirements and separations branch chief. So he is very familiar with the review board and all the negative issues that will impact the careers of these airman.
Oh and I almost forgot….If these airman choose to roll the dice and wait till after the board make determination as to the individual personnel negative force management issues and then are told they are to be separated the tough luck charlie…NO SOUP FOR YOU!
voluntary separation pay will not be offered, Airmen with six through 15 years of active service who are not selected for retention will receive full separation pay
Airman throughout the Air Force the following….
“If you have not received your copy of the retention form by April 5, contact your commander, and don’t wait until you get the message to review your records,” Garcia advised. “You should review your records now to make sure the information is accurate. If it isn’t, you’ll still have time to update your records before the board.”
Airmen slated to meet the board may also submit a letter to the board to address any matter of record they believe merits consideration. Letters must have Airmen’s signatures, not electronic signature blocks. Letters, addressed to the FY14 Enlisted Quality Force Review Board, must reach AFPC before midnight April 25.
So as predicted last June the Obama Administration is continuing to cut, trim, destroy the U.S. Armed Forces. Hagel publicly stated in the past that the DoD was too large and needed to be cut. Well now he is in a position to do it and with the feckless U.S. Congress distracted by their own re-elections, countless active duty service members will have their lives placed in limbo.
And nobody will be there to be a surrogate for our Soldiers, Sailors, Airman, and Marines. This is just the beginning of the fun for 2014. The incoming challenges from the regime will be ceaseless and rapid. Buckle up its going to be a bumpy ride folks.
