Besides the fact that both women share their far left ideology? Apparently they both have a very low threshold for pain, at least the kind of pain that comes from having to live like commoners. Paltrow recently made a big deal of trying to live on the equivalent of food stamps for a week, but the poor thing just couldn’t suffer through the entire week on such paltry fare. Then comes Mrs. Clinton who set out to demonstrate that she was one with the little people by abandoning her tricked out Scooby bus to fly coach and actually pull her own suitcase through the airport. Following her ‘I’m A Little People Too’ tour through New Hampshire however, the former first lady went on a police escorted 80 mph drive to the airport in Boston where a seat in first class awaited on her flight back to the land of privilege and luxury.
The difference between the two is that Paltrow is an actress, but Clinton wants to be President.
It is not surprising that her foray into what she thinks is everyday America was so brief, nor is it surprising that her impression of everyday America is so far removed from the truth. Does she really think we all fly coach and carry our own luggage?
Perhaps a better experience for her would have been to be unemployed with one child wanting to go on a band trip, another whose feet just grew out of his newest pair of shoes, while a third is suffering from a toothache that will require an immediate unplanned visit to the dentist. It is doubtful that she understands what it’s like to dread the weather forecast because of what cold weather will mean to the heating bill, a bill that will be higher because electricity prices have “necessarily skyrocketed”. She has probably never had to worry about the soon-to-expire inspection sticker on the 14 year-old family car that will almost certainly require repairs that simply won’t fit into the family budget because 29 hours a week just doesn’t bring in enough money.
Or, she could just fly coach and carry her own luggage – once.
