Everyone remembers GOP nominee Donald Trump had money problems in the late 1990s if you have done your research about the businessman. I wonder if the Hillary Clinton campaign went to Lois Lerner (a friend of hers) and had the IRS forward this information to them. It probably wouldn’t be the first time the IRS has done that.
Instead of trudging for tax returns from the Bill Clinton’s first administration, why won’t the NY Times and CNN dig for the 35K emails Hillary destroyed and looked at the overseas tax shelters the Clinton Initiative setup to hide their Saudi oil money? Just saying!
And it also looks like Forbes had reported that the NY Times had paid any taxes in 2014.
… for tax year 2014, The New York Times paid no taxes and got an income tax refund of $3.5 million even though they had a pre-tax profit of $29.9 million in 2014. In other words, their post-tax profit was higher than their pre-tax profit. The explanation in their 2014 annual report is, “The effective tax rate for 2014 was favorably affected by approximately $21.1 million for the reversal of reserves for uncertain tax positions due to the lapse of applicable statutes of limitations.” If you don’t think it took fancy accountants and tax lawyers to make that happen, read the statement again.
Trump should respond… Yes, I lost a billion in 1995, and my tax attorneys informed me that I could use that loss against future gains, as should anyone who takes a huge loss on investments. You see what happens when you hire good representation? When you hire incompetents, you get $20 trillion in debt, $45 million on food stamps, the lowest employment participation rate, and the weakest recovery since 1949, Not to mention fire spreading throughout the world.
Tax laws permitted it, for anyone who is in a similar position. What kind of an idiot would go against his tax advisors and pay MORE than is required of them just to look good! If we do not like this, let’s change the tax rules and exemptions.
What is the point of always posting negative headlines that mean nothing? Look at Hillary’s tax returns. After all, she took exemptions from charity (boy is that a word) donations that were to her charity? Was it illegal? No, I don’t think so, but damn sure shadier than what Trump did by using the tax laws to his advantage.
I don’t care if he did not pay a damn dime to the federal government, serves them right. I do care about all the good he has done with his money to help vets, charity, and other people around this country that can testify to his character outside the political arena.
