Illinois governor Pat Quinn came to Elmhurst College on Tuesday in the Chicagoland area to present a supposed $1.8 million grant for renovation and remodeling projects.
However, it is no coincidence that this took place exactly a week before the midterm election. This scheme is nothing more than another desperate attempt to buy more votes in a gubernatorial race that has Quinn on the ropes.
The Illinois Republican Party posted the following:
“Pat Quinn is throwing around taxpayer money one week before an election and taxpayers have a right to be upset about it. We need to put an end to Pat Quinn’s corruption and stop him from raising our taxes in just over a week.”
Along with Pat Quinn’s corruption is his incompetence. A few of us from the Rauner campaign held a peaceful protest on the public sidewalk, standing about 200 feet away from Pat Quinn giving his address. He was scheduled to give a press conference at 2:45, but did not show up until 4:10, nearly 90 minutes late.
In fact, State Senator Chris Nybo was scheduled to give a media forum in response to the governor’s remarks at 3:15.
The bottom line is that Quinn and Democrats throughout the nation are extremely desperate. They will continue coming up with sleazy tactics to try retaining power and their re-election bids. The governor can’t change or buy facts. We know about his tax increases, corruption, and incompetence that will hopefully be enough evidence for Illinois to elect Bruce Rauner on November 4, 2014, and bring back trust and economic prosperity to this state.
